Sodium fluorescein (CAS 518-47-8) is an organic compound with molecular formula of C20H10Na2O5, orange powder, odorless and hygroscopic; It is easily soluble in water, the solution is yellow red with strong yellow-green fluorescence, disappears after acidification, reappears after neutralization or alkalization, and slightly soluble in ethanol; The maximum absorption wavelength (water) is 493.5 nm.
Application
1. Adsorption indicator. Oxidation-reduction indicator. Fluorimetric analysis of sulfur ions. Titrate chlorine, bromine and iodine. Fluorescein is the matrix of luminous substances. A substance that gives fluorescence to many living things. It forms a complex (fluorescein adenosine) with ATP, and then combines with fluorescein enzyme (1 uciferase). The fluorescein activated in the oxidation process emits light. The whole reaction is used for detection of living organisms or quantitative analysis of very low degree of bacterial contamination. For example, measure with a fluorophotometer.
2. It is used as a fluorescent adsorption indicator for the determination of Cl -, Br -, I - and SCN-silver salts by precipitation titration. It is also used as a fluorescent indicator for acid-base titration, with PH value of 4.0 (blue-green)~6.6 (green).
3. Used as indicator, biological stain and cosmetics stain for chemical analysis.
