Production process of DMAPA (CAS 109-55-7, 3-aminopropyldimethylamine)


3-aminopropyldimethylamine, CAS Number 109-55-7, also called other name N,N-Dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine or short for DMAPA, is often used in organic synthesis as epoxy curing agent. Now we would like to talke about how to produce DMAPA. This article is just for reference. 

Add 110 L (90 kg) of N,N-dimethylaminopropionitrile to a 200 L iron pan, mix it with the sometimes added catalyst (add 2 kg of Raney cobalt at the beginning of each hydrogenation), and press in 230 with nitrogen L chromium molybdenum steel autoclave, and then hydrogen gas, hydrogenation temperature 100-120 ℃, time 2-3 hours. After cooling and standing for 0.5 hours, suction filtration, the catalyst remained in the autoclave. The initial pressure is not too high, the average initial pressure is 150 bar. The final pressure is also at the same height. Pressurized by vacuum distillation to collect 134-135°C/100 mmHg product. The yield of N,N-dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine is 85-90%.
